The fact that Taylor has called the new album her most “sonically cohesive” makes me think it truly will be 100% Martin/Shellback-esque pop songs.
For all the T. Swifty fans who are better at dissecting things than I am… What did Taylor mean when she said that 1989 would be her first “documented official pop album”???
Did she mean that the entire album would be in the style of her Martin/Shellback songs (ie. Shake it Off, 22, We Are Never Getting Back Together, I Knew You Were Trouble)??
Or did she simply mean that they won’t release 1989 into country charts and that it won’t be eligible for country awards like all of her previous albums??
I’m a bit scared if it’s going to be 100% poppy stuff. A little worried about this “80s pop influence” Taylor’s mentioned. I’m hoping it’ll be a few “radio friendly” catchy/poppy/dancey songs, and then a mix of amazing ballads like on ‘Red’. Please let this be the case!!
I understand that she wants to broaden her horizons and explore new sounds but I hope she doesn’t entirely abandon the type of music and lyrics that helped her secure worldwide domination in the first place!!
